The African American Sports Legends of Northwest Ohio will celebrate the legacy of athletic excellence on Friday, June 26, 2026, as it honors seven outstanding athletes whose achievements demonstrate this year’s theme: “Putting in the Work.”
The 2026 Hall of Fame Class represents generations of excellence in basketball, football and track and field. Each inductee distinguished themselves through hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field of play. This year’s inductees include:
- Jazlyn Davis, Bowsher High School standout and First-Team All-Ohio basketball selection.
- • Kevin Koger, Whitmer High School and University of Michigan standout who currently serves as Wide Receivers Coach for the Atlanta Falcons.
- • Shereese Ulis-McBrayer, a three-time Toledo City League Player of the Year and two-time District Player of the Year.
- • Eric Newsome, Rogers High School shooting guard who earned First-Team All-City honors three times and All-District recognition on three occasions.
- • Anthony “Scoop” Williams, a cornerstone of Scott High School’s 1990 State Championship basketball team.
- • Lance Price, Sr., Scott High School graduate, Ohio State Champion in the 110-meter high hurdles, three time All-City track selection, and dual-sport letterman in football and track at The Ohio State University.
- • Abe Steward, a standout 6-foot-6 forward from Libbey High School who helped lead the Cowboys to back-to-back City League basketball championships during the 1968-69 and 1969-70 seasons.
In addition to the Hall of Fame inductees, special recognition will be bestowed upon three individuals whose contributions helped shape athletics and community life throughout Northwest Ohio.
