Friday June 19th the Toledo Museum hosted a daylong Juneteenth celebration from 11am- 5pm. The free event, entitled “Inspiring Change, Creating Beauty” featured live performances and engaging art activities for all ages.
The event programming included:
- Outreach Art Activity – for all ages and skill levels
- Performances – by Ebone Waweru featuring Bradley Baker, and Nate Leonard featuring music composed and performed by African American artists
- Sensory Friendly Area
- Food Trucks
- Community Artist Showcase: Meet the Artists – James “dirtykics” Dickerson and Brenda Singletary
The community partners for the event were the Toledo African American Bureau of Commerce, the Ohio Minority Business Assistance Center, BESN Community and Relly’s Purple Bag.
