Good Friday Service at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church

Religious leaders from around the city joined Rev. Cedric Brock and the congregation of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church for Good Friday service on April 18 at noon, during which the leaders spoke on the meaning of this most important time in the history of Christianity – the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Rev. Robert Birt, Pastor Alvin Dawson, Pastor Damon Horton, Pastor Marquisa Horton, Pastor Linette Harris Guilford, Bishop Darrell Sheares, Pastor Darran Overton, Pastor Brandon Davis, Rev. Michael Carter, and Pastor Chaz Boes were among those who joined Rev. Brock for this celebration of the Good Friday service.

Rev. Birt opened the remarks with an address on the words from Luke 23:34, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

After an offering from the Music Ministry, Paster Dawson spoke on the Luke 23:43 phrase: “You will be with me in paradise; followed by Pastor Marquisa Horton’s view of the John 19:26,27 words: “Woman, behold your son.”

The Music Ministry sang again before Pastor Overton spoke on Matthew 27:26 words “My God, My God, why have Thou forsaken me?”

“I thirst” – the words from John 19:28 were the inspiration for Bishop Shears address and after another presentation from the Music Ministry, Pastor Carter spoke on the word from John 19:30, “It is finished;” followed by the Pastor Davis’ thoughts on Luke 23:46 – “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”

Rev. Brock closed the Good Friday service with an invitation and the benediction.
