Meanwhile, as visitors flocked to Wholistics Organics during the weekend battle of the markets, Al Peake & Sons and Daughter Too, opened the pop up at Swayne Field with an array of fresh produce for the neighborhood fulfilling, for the moment, the City’s vision of what belongs at the Swayne Filed location
The point of the request for proposals and the ultimate goal of the project, said Roslyn Clemens, director of the City’s Department of Housing and Community Development, was to “establish a food hub … and aggregate, distribute and have a retail presence.”
According to Clemens the bid was awarded to a company that could pull all the parts together of collecting product, assembling a staff, maintaining the facility’s physical operation’s – such as refrigeration, serving hundreds of people and providing point-of-sale data, during the initial 10-week period so that an analysis could be made on where and how to proceed on a long-term basis.

Al Peake opened its pop up on Friday – 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The popup will re-open on Thursday, September 10 from noon to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
