The Toledo History Museum speakers’ series continues with local history
author Tedd Long looking at history “hidden in plain sight.”
Why are there tunnels beneath downtown Toledo? Who buried fifteen pints of
nitroglycerin in a city park? How did the Titanic expose the secrets of a
Toledo filmmaker, and why is the Commodore Perry Hotel missing a tower?
Toledo History Museum is welcoming Mr. Long for this free presentation
September 22, 2026, at the Main Branch of the Toledo Lucas County Public
Library, 325 Michigan St., Toledo, Ohio 43604 at 6:00 p.m. Attendees should
enter through the parking garage entrance.
In this lively presentation based on his forthcoming book, The Toledo Files:
101 Mysteries, Secrets, and Stories of the Glass City, Long investigates the
questions, legends, and curious details hiding behind Toledo’s familiar
places. Drawing on old newspapers, photographs, maps, public records, and
firsthand accounts, he separates fact from folklore and opens the files on
forgotten buildings, remarkable people, unsolved mysteries, and stories
almost too strange to be true.
The audience will discover a Toledo beneath the streets, behind locked
museum doors, inside an illegal casino, and hidden in plain sight.
Tedd Long is an author, blogger, photographer, lecturer, and curator known
for his work on holytoledohistory.com. Tedd has earned acclaim for his
award-winning books and innovative GPS audio walking and driving tours,
