Team Black Diamond Holds Exquisite Gem Award Dinner

Special to The Truth

On the evening of Sunday, October 6, 2024, Team Black Diamond held its second Exquisite Gem Award Dinner at the Blue Gill Fisherman Club and recognized three recent breast cancer survivors.

The 2024 Exquisite Gem Awardees were: Annissa Floure, Kim Highsmith and Sylvia Lewis. The ladies were each presented with a monetary donation, flowers and cancer awareness items. These recent cancer free survivors were humbled and very appreciative of this honor.

A full dinner was served to each awardee, along with invited family, friends and Team Black Diamond members. Team Black Diamond was formed by a breast cancer survivor, Monica Riley, with the intent of bringing awareness to African American women regarding breast cancer, breast care and the importance of selfcare, mammograms and breast screenings.

Team Black Diamond will continue to support and uplift African American women and community members affected by such a devastating disease as breast cancer. Team Black is making plans for October 4, 2025 to hold a Pink Gala of Elegance formal event, where the Exquisite Gem Award(s) will be presented. Save the date on your calendar.

The Team offered special thanks to Steve and Wanda Galloway, Sonia Atkins, Tasha Walker, Trenene Smith, James Boatman and Majical Moments (Phyllis Stuart)
