State Rep. Elgin Rogers Jr. (D-Toledo) last week announced that he has secured an additional $2 million in redirected capital budget funding for projects that will expand housing, strengthen behavioral health services, preserve historic landmarks, support individuals with epilepsy, and continue neighborhood revitalization in Toledo.
Through his advocacy, Rep. Rogers worked to redirect state dollars from projects that were no longer moving forward, ensuring the funding would instead support high impact investments across the community.
The funding includes:
* $750,000 for Mission Point permanent supportive housing.
* $400,000 for the Mudhens Fleetwood Building Improvement Project.
* $250,000 for infrastructure improvements at the Valentine Theatre.
* $250,000 for the Historic Ohio Theatre Renovation Project.
* $125,000 for Hopability Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio.
* $125,000 for Harbor Behavioral Health to support mental health services and workforce development opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
“These state dollars were no longer serving their original purpose,” said Rep. Rogers. “Rather than allowing these funds to remain tied to stalled projects, I worked to redirect them toward investments that will have a lasting impact for generations.”
The investments will expand supportive housing, preserve historic community assets, improve access to behavioral health and epilepsy services, and continue revitalization efforts that benefit residents across the county.
