Kaptur Statement on the 2nd Anniversary of January 6th Insurrection on Capitol

Last week, Representative Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), the longest serving woman in history of House of Representatives, joined colleagues on the Capitol Steps to honor the 2nd anniversary of the January 6th insurrection on the Capitol, and mourn the loss of dedicated law enforcement officers who gave their lives defending democracy.

“Today is the second anniversary of the terrible January 6th, 2021 attack on the Capitol by an angry mob intent on stopping the transition of Presidential power. Democracy prevailed. Let every American pay grateful tribute to the officers who died – US Capitol Police Officers Brian D. Sicknick, Officer Howie Liebengood and Metropolitan Police Department Officers Jeffrey Smith, Kyle DeFreytag, and Gunther Hashida as well as the hundreds of law enforcement officials who were injured – from the Capitol police, Sergeant at Arms staff, regional policing authorities, and National Guard. May God bless America and may the wisdom of the Founders that a nation “For and by the people” who peaceably choose their leaders always endure.” said Rep. Kaptur.
