If you had either the morbid curiosity or the sheer courage to watch Dear Leader explode before your very eyes this past week during his 20 minute television meltdown, it is a sure bet that you probably witnessed the de-evolution of the human species.
Any sane and rationale person who viewed that eye-turning-away performance by Trump would have to admit, even if it took three dirty martinis to loosened one’s tongue, that Trump is skidding down the path of mental gibberish at full speed.
Besides the obvious fact that Joe Biden lives in his brain, rent-free, Trump is in total free fall as it pertains to cogent thinking or rationale behavior and this is being done before millions of viewers!
How could anyone fumble around to find any justification for his bombastic meanderings or his flailing attempts to sound cogent or remotely presidential?
And yet, this is the person that half of America said after his first disastrous term as president, that this is the guy we want to rule over us! Are you on mind numbing drugs?
What was said in that mumbo jumbo that gave you any sense that this guy is fit for the job and he has the skill set to set sensible policies and adroitly interact with foreign leaders?
What did he say during that meandering ramble that gave you confidence that America is about
to rebound out of the debacle that we are now in?
If you are confessing two working brain cells and are not part of the uber one percenters regarding privilege and wealth, you surely had a moment, or two, to realize that unless there is a drastic course change in American politics, civility, economics, fairness and empathy, we are
doomed for another three years of this dystopian play.
When you add up the ongoing alterations to the White House, the gold framed plaques of prior presidents that he either vilifies or extols, the continued bombing of the alleged drug carrying narco boats (Note: could be drugs but why has not the Coast Guard or the military picked “up the flotsam” to determine what was being carried?) and his refusal to say that the
economy is not working for everyone, you should be fearful my friend, very fearful.
It is as if Trump has cast a mind numbing spell over the US Supreme Court, the Senate and his minions in the House to do his bidding at whatever the cost.
And as for chronic and pathological lying, that does not seem to bother the GOP or his base
MAGA. No…lying about provable facts does not warrant rebuke or chastisement from the GOP but rather they simply turn their heads and mutter to themselves as they hid in their offices.
Commentators are using the word, “inflection point” to illustrate that unless America takes on some smelling salts and wakes up from its slumber, we may reach a point of malaise that will takes years to recover from.
Trump is incapable of being sensitive or showing compassion or empathy because in his insulated bubble, all is well and he controls his reality with the help of his unqualified and hapless cabal of followers whose only response to him is, “Yes, Dear Leader!”
Now, remember there are three plus years to go before the White House can be in revamp mode and that is assuming that another Trump-like oaf will not continue what Trump has started. I never underestimate the lack of intelligence of people whose primary fight is about the red herring culture wars that Trump started during his first term.
If the GOP candidate for 2028 can keep those fires burning and churning, he or she will be able to continue to stoke the fears of the MAGA base to keep things going as they are because if not, those “others” will take over your jobs and neighborhoods.
And let’s be clear about Venezuela. Yes, it is run by a ruthless dictator but it has what Trump wants….oil, oil and more oil! Venezuela has the world’s largest proven oil reserves and they are
right in our backyard so to speak and what better way to keep people minds off of his failed policies than to start a nice little war.
Never mind that Venezuela is not known for its production of fetanyl but rather of cocaine. Never mind that it is Mexico and China that are the producers and suppliers of most of the illicit drugs that come in the US.
But, do you see Trump committing aircraft carriers and thousands of troops against Mexico and a blockade of China? Only in your dreams.
The mid terms are the only legitimate vehicle by which a course correction can be initiated and if that does not happen, be prepared for a president with seemingly advancing dementia and a callous disregard for the rule of law to continue on a path that will fatigue us all.
That will cause a profound mistrust in and of government and in the facile politicians who should have never been elected to public office in the first place.
So, get a grip, shout out when needed and do not give into despair because dictators love it when the populace throws in the towel and fails to be the needed opposition to idiots in
public office.
