Toledo’s Inaugural Kinesthetic Marathon, presented by Dr. Val’s SOAR Elevation Network and in partnership with Savvy Seniors Toledo was on the move on February 22 as a dynamic, high-energy movement experience, led by Valerie S. Walston, ThD, and Clara Petty of Savvy Sisters, inspired participants to pursue healthier lifestyles, stronger community connections and joyful wellness through motion.

More than 25 participants came together for the movement marathon, an exciting lineup of a variety of fitness formats, each bringing a unique rhythm and purpose.

Walston opened the marathon with a Zumba Dance Fitness, energizing the room with Latin-inspired cardio fun.

Jen B, a bellydance instructor, provided the attendees’ next challenge as she introduced them to a routine blending grace, strength and core engagement.

Yoga & Balance Training was provided by Alisa Gafeney, centering the body and calming the mind.

Then came some Line Dancing Hustle, powered by Waverly, which kept boots moving and spirits high.

Ade Afolabi came all the way from Columbus to introduce participants to his inspirational dance format, Rhythm Musique Fitness, igniting the dancers with cultural beats and motivation.

Andre Gaston of Body by Dre continued the fitness marathon and delivered tips and extended an invitation to his Saturday boot camp for continued accountability.

“The goal was to get folks moving and to add one more kinesthetic movement to participants’ current workout routine,” said Walston.

And move they did.

Between each fitness session, Brillance Wellness Care provided weight loss insights, reinforcing the fact that movement and medical guidance go hand-in-hand. Participants were invited to visit their Toledo or Michigan office and attend their free Weight Loss Clinic on March 5 at 6:00 pm at Studio 329.

Sunday’s marathon was more than a workout, it was a community activation.

This Kinesthetic Marathon is one of several initiatives included in Walston’s (“Dr. Val) 419 Community Wellness Series, a citywide effort to elevate leadership, longevity and lifestyle through intentional programming. The energy in the room proved one thing clearly – Toledo is ready to SOAR in wellness.

As part of the SOAR Elevation Network, Dr. Val will be presenting several more ents or seminars in the coming weeks: a Weight Loss & Wellness Seminar on March 5; the Second Annual Alive & Well Leadership and Wellness Brunch on March 21; the Second Annual Alive & Well & Well Leadership and Wellness Brunch on April 9 and the Second Annual Melanin & Crown in May on a date to be decided.
