The Board of Lucas County Commissioners voted last week to name Commissioner Lisa A. Sobecki as President of the Board for 2026.

The unanimous vote came at the Commissioners’ organizational meeting
“I want to thank my colleagues for their vote of confidence in me to lead this board for another year,” Commissioner Sobecki said. “We know 2026 is going to present us with challenges from several fronts. I am confident we can navigate the tough waters together and continue to deliver high-quality services to our residents and businesses in the most efficient and effective way possible.”

Commissioner Sobecki was elected to the Board of Lucas County Commissioners in 2022 and was named President of the Board in 2025.

Last year, she began hosting quarterly meetings with the elected leaders of other Lucas County offices to provide mid-year budget projection updates and work through issues facing the County as a whole.

“Those quarterly meetings increased communication and collaboration and built trust and transparency, and I’m committed to continuing them in 2026,” Commissioner Sobecki said.

New in 2026, Commissioner Sobecki will begin hosting quarterly meetings with the cities, townships, and villages within Lucas County to foster open dialogue and collaborative problem-solving countywide.

“I believe we are stronger as a community when we work together, and that’s going to be even more important as we navigate what is going to be a tough year,” she said.
