On Sunday, October 26,2025, Alice Mitchell celebrated her 90th birthday with shared memories, live music, and family at the Downtown Hilton Garden Inn. Mitchell’s daughter, Cassandra Parker, led the gathering of her family and community for a dinner served by the Hilton. She ushered those in attendance to signify giving Alice her flowers with the passing of roses, following words of endearment. Along with the reminiscing, the host shared a collection of photos spanning over nine decades of her life.

Alice has been a resident of Toledo for over 70 years, moving to the city with her husband in her early 20s. She had two children in her marriage, which has multiplied into three generations of 20 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren she has had the pleasure of helping to raise and mentor. “A thank you, Mom, for just being you,” read LaShonda Johnson from a guest card.

Parker shared a brief history of Mitchell’s career working in nursing, family transitions, and milestones. Rev. Cedric Brock, pastor of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, also took part in celebrating a member of his congregation sharing a message on the blessing of longevity in life, followed by Ronnie Lindsey, who accompanied the evening with live music selections.

When asked about something that has made her happy through the years, Mitchell simply said, “Family.” Her guest shared the same sentiments about her being the anchor of family gatherings and was glad to return the favor.
