Students are returning to class this week and the first day at Toledo Public Schools on Monday brought together the youngsters with some community leaders at MLK Academy for Boys and Ella P. Stewart Academy for Girls.
Excitement was in the air at both academies as the men shook hands and greeted each boy at MLK and the women cheered, waved pom poms and high fived the incoming girls at Ella P.
This annual tradition began at MLK Academy and this was the 10th annual Men of Distinction “First Day of School – Meet & Greet.”
Many of the men and the women who greeted students on this first day of the school year will return to these schools during the next nine months to take part in other special occasions and to mentor the schools’ students.
