Hicks-Hudson Responds to Governor’s State of the State Address

Sen. Paula Hicks-Hudson

Last week, state Senator Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) issued the following statement in response to Governor Mike DeWine’s State of the State address:

“I am disappointed that Lucas County in Northwest Ohio got little notice in Governor DeWine’s address to the state,” said Hicks-Hudson. “Governor DeWine did mention a few accomplishments and listed new state policies that will help our voters. However, the reality is that these incremental successes are not matching the ongoing challenges Ohioans are facing, especially our children and their parents. The governor’s statements on elderly and child tax credits are a start but don’t go far enough. Instead of shrinking words out of the Revised Code, we should be shrinking the gap for Ohioans not having their needs met.”

Following the governor’s State of the State address, Senate and House Democrats held a joint press conference to discuss how they’re fighting for an Ohio that protects, houses, educates, supports, and empowers workers and families.
