First Annual Feed the Veterans Barbecue

The Truth Staff

A great way to start the Memorial Day weekend!

The Gold Star Veterans Life Enrichment Services held their first annual “Feed the Veterans Barbecue” on Saturday May 25 at the compound at 3 E. Bancroft Street to celebrate the opening of the Memorial Day weekend holiday.

Nearly 200 guests enjoyed a free meal and also had the opportunity to select items from the free clothing giveaway.

The purpose of the Veterans Barbecue was to “honor those who have served our country,” said Mike Ivery, organizer of the special event. “Let’s come together as a community to show our appreciation and support for our veterans.”

The event started at 1 p.m. at the Gold Star Veterans Life Enrichment Services/Truth Colours Art Gallery compound at the corner of Franklin and Bancroft.
