The YWCA of Northwest Ohio announced the 2023 Milestones honorees last week. The honorees will be formally presented at the 28th annual YWCA Milestones: A Tribute to Women on March 30 at the Glass City Center.
Since 1996, the YWCA has recognized women in northwest Ohio “who have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and who, though their efforts and accomplishments, have opened doors for other women to achieve their potential,” notes the agency’s media kit.
“Each and every one of them are doing wonderful things,” Lisa McDuffie, the YWCA president and CEO, said at the press conference at the Nexus Health Care Building, a Neighborhood Health Association facility.
“They are doing extraordinary things in their field. They are mentoring. They are breaking glass ceilings. In many instances, they’re shattering,” she added.
This year’s honorees are: Amy Chang (arts), Ambrea Mikolajczyk (business), Mary Sabin (education), Cecelia Adams (government), Lori Hauser (sciences), Tina Butts (social services), Kristi Hoffman (volunteerism), Lauren Scott (Women on the Rise-YWCA involvement), Kendra Smith (Women on the Rise-community), and Erin Baker (Women on the Rise-community).
Women on the Rise is a new category this year and recognizes women who are influencing their field and becoming a leaders in the community. Scott was honored for her work with the YWCA. Smith and Baker were chosen because of their community work that reflects the organization’s mission.
