Special to The Truth
Maritime Academy of Toledo is proud to announce that Burkett Restaurant Equipment & Supplies, based in Perrysburg, Ohio, has generously donated a commercial combi oven to support its state-approved Culinary Arts Program. This professional-grade oven offers steam, combi-steam and hot-air cooking methods, providing students with hands-on experience using the same equipment found in commercial kitchens while learning a variety of culinary techniques on a single piece of equipment.
“We are incredibly grateful to Burkett Restaurant Equipment & Supplies for this generous investment in our students,” said Misha Stredrick, EdD, superintendent of Maritime Academy of Toledo. “This opportunity allows our Culinary Arts students to gain valuable experience using professional-grade commercial equipment, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed for successful careers in the culinary industry while serving our school and community with some of the highest-quality tools available.”
“This is exactly the kind of opportunity we look for when we talk about supporting our community,” said Jameel Burkett, president and CEO of Burkett Restaurant Equipment & Supplies. “The Maritime Academy of Toledo is preparing students with real-world skills, and we’re proud to play a small role in giving its culinary program another resource to help students learn, train, and grow.”
Partnerships like this help transform classrooms into real-world learning environments where students build practical skills, confidence and a passion for their future careers. The Maritime staff and faculty extended their sincere appreciation to Burkett Restaurant Equipment & Supplies for believing in their students and investing in the next generation of chefs and leaders.
Burkett Restaurant Equipment & Supplies has a longstanding commitment to giving back to the community through initiatives such as its annual Mike Burkett Memorial Golf Outing, which raises funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Their generosity continues to make a meaningful difference, both in the community and in the lives of Maritime’s students.
