The fourth Community CPR 419 Initiative was held at Bowsher High School Saturday, November 9. The large-scale community event offered free Adult, Child and Infant CPR certification, mammograms, health screenings, suicide prevention workshops as well as vendors, food and music for the entire family.
“We had 300 register, and we had over 100 people show up the first thing this morning,” stated Tashara B., organizer of the annual event.
“We’re pushing to save lives; we start with CPR making sure that everyone has the skills and training for CPR. But we also create a community marketplace where we have our workshops with all the city businesses and organizations that provide services from mental health to insurance, all the way down to any level of care they may need,” she stated.
The event also featured vendors of locally owned holistic wellness products and services and a performance from My5tery Music.
The City of Toledo, Toledo Fire Department and Toledo Police Department provided instructors for the CPR training. Each participant received an Adult, Child and Infant CPR card from the American Heart Association that is valid for two years.
This has been the biggest event yet with plans to return and continue to grow next year in 2025!
