So, who doesn’t love a parade! On Saturday, June 15, hundreds of spectators had the opportunity to enjoy Toledo’s Juneteenth parade that symbolized the celebration of this national holiday.

Dozens of organizations – schools, community agencies, politicians and candidates, groups looking to make s statement – walked the route from the corner of Monroe and Summit Streets, north on Summit to Jackson Street and ended with a brief ceremony at One Government Center during a morning blessed with beautiful summer weather.

Slingshots, Corvettes, tiny cars and a few horses joined the various dance teams for the annual event organized by Community United 419.

The 10 a.m. holiday parade was just the start of the day full of activities that were designed to celebrate the holiday.
