The African American Legacy Project hosted its third ‘First Tuesday on the Patio’ event August 4 at 1326 Collingwood Blvd. The evening featured music, food and a presentation from Audrey Johnson, president of Unbounded Artist Development Community. The event, which is held every first Tuesday, is a place for the community to connect and engage in the Historic Dorr St. Corridor.

Audrey Johnson, who is a visual artist and photographer, discussed her beginnings in art, her vision to build her program and continue to bring art into the community.

She brought samples of her artwork as well as the works of others, spoke about the legacy of Toledo luminaries such as LeMaxie Glover and Marvin Vines, and her recent travels with artists to Florida and Africa. Johnson also donated a painting that was created by children during the AALP’s Black History Month event earlier this year.

The next ‘First Tuesday on the Patio’ at the AALP will be September 1 at 6:30 p.m. at 1326 Collingwood Blvd. It will feature Toledo Public Schools Superintendent Romules Durant, EdD, who will discuss the future of Toledo Public Schools. The event is free. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair!
