On Wednesday morning December 20, the Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union provided Christmas gifts to special needs children at Robinson Elementary School. The students had provided their list of Christmas gifts and the credit union delivered the presents to the school before winter break.
“We adopted students at Robinson Elementary School” remarked Suzette Cowell, president and CEO of Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union. The credit union adopted four classrooms and provided everything from headphones, drawing books and basketballs to 34 students. The TUFCU also provided another school, Grove Patterson, with pizza. They plan to continue this annually, Cowell stated.
Tiera Reynolds, art teacher at Robinson Elementary, who orchestrated the event at the school, remarked “It was super nice. I’m super excited, being here with [the special needs children] I learned a lot about them what they go through and it’s was really nice [what TUFCU provided].”
The Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union will soon open up its second branch on 3053 Monroe St. (the former 5/3rd Bank across from the old Swayne Field). The grand opening of the new branch will be January 12, 2024.
