The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) introduces a new service for attendees of the events surrounding Toledo’s African American Festival Saturday, July 15. The Urban Express will put customers in touch with Saturday evening’s concert in Promenade Park with direct service for $1.50 per ride or $3 for a Day Pass.
Buses will run on a loop from the Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union (1441 Dorr Street) to Jefferson Avenue and Summit Street, dropping off near the Hilton Garden Inn Toledo Downtown.
Trips from the Credit Union begin at 2 p.m. Saturday and run roughly every 30 minutes, with the last trip back to the Credit Union leaving downtown at 11 p.m.
The 18th African American Festival Parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, stepping off from Dorr Street and Detroit Avenue. The parade will be followed by a Community Day at Nelson Grace Park (1001 N. Detroit Avenue) from noon to 3 p.m. Customers can park at the Credit Union and take the Urban Express downtown for the concert.
Gates at Promenade Park open at 3 p.m., with entertainment featuring Stokley, Ginuwine, Freddie Jackson, The Zapp Band, and more. In addition to special transportation, TARTA customers will be able to ride regular fixed route service to each event.
