Toledo African American Chamber of Commerce (TAACC) held a Business Mixer at TolHouse Social Club on Friday, February 17. The mixer opened and closed with networking opportunities where members were encouraged to bring digital and physical business cards to participate in network enrichment, camaraderie, and build connections.
“Our mission is to accelerate economic development and entrepreneurship within African American communities of Toledo Northwest Ohio. That’s the bottom line,” said Roy Hodge, TAACC President.
A portion of the mixer was dedicated to sharing and announcing information about the Small Business Growth Collaborative Model (BGC), resources available to members and explain two standing programs. TAACC Standing Programs are Northwest Ohio Mentoring Program held in partnership with Northwest Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Women of Toledo and the second is the TAACC Tech Program connects with African American entrepreneurs and tech professionals.
“We have been a part of the BGC for four years. We know that women can do every thing but we know that women don’t have to do every thing,” shared Nina Corder, managing & program director of Women of Toledo.

The BGC includes Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council, Toledo Lucas County Port Authority, LISC Toledo, Economic Community Development Institute, TAACC, Women of Toledo, ASSETS Toledo, Northwest Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Center for Innovative Food Technology, University of Toledo Minority Business Development Center, Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce and Toledo Lucas County Public Library. The BGC works as a collective to address the individualized needs of a small business owner.
One resource that was highlighted, Toledo Ramp, is a one-site resource to build a business network, find solutions to scale up the business and seek out knowledgeable experts.
