The Greater Toledo Community Foundation (GTCF) announced earlier this month that it will be distributing an additional $600,000 in funding in 2023 to local nonprofit organizations in celebration of its 50th anniversary. This is addition to an annual average grant distribution of approximately 1.8 million.
A 12 month campaign called “Fifty Years of Funding Futures,” along with a 2023 calendar of community events and programs centered on honoring the past, celebrating the present and equipping future generations for continued community impact was also announced.
The announcement took place at the 577 Foundation and included a proclamation from the City of Toledo and the Lucas County Commissioners, as wellas remarks by Keith Burwell, president of GTCF, Mike Gibbons, board vice chair, and Heather Gallant, executive director of the 577 Foundation.
Through its five decades of service, Greater Toledo Community Foundation has been trusted to distribute more than $310 million in grants to Toledo area nonprofits and beyond. It now holds more than 900 funds and approximately $435 million in assets with the goal of creating a better community for generations to come.
“Fifty years ago, we never could have imagined how many futures we would fund. Today we are humbled by the immense difference we’ve made. And we’re honored to be celebrating this momentous occasion with a yearlong calendar of events and programs across our community,” said Keith Burwell, president of GTCF.
In addition to the many grants given by the Foundation, GTFC serves as a key community leader working with a wide range of partners to address current and emerging challenges and issues. As a provider of philanthropic services to individuals, families, businesses, private foundations and other nonprofit organizations, GTCF strives to help donors make gifts to meet vital community needs.
