Rep. Rogers Pushes Scott High School License Plate Bill Forward

State Representative Elgin Rogers, Jr. is urging community members to take the final step in bringing the Scott High School specialty license plate to life. Portions of the proceeds from the plate will go directly to the school to fund educational opportunities — a critical boost at a time when public schools face ongoing funding cuts.

Residents can sign up during normal business hours at Scott High School with their driver’s license and current license plate number. Signing up shows interest and helps move the plate into production — no purchase is required.

Rep. Rogers worked in bipartisan partnership with co-sponsor Rep. DJ Swearingen
to get the bill passed. The legislation gained regional attention when, during the House hearing, the Homeland Security Chair asked Rep. Rogers to recite his school’s fight song. He began, and Bulldogs spanning multiple generations joined in, earning a standing ovation.

A lot of work went into making this happen,” said Rep. Rogers. “Now I’m asking for our community’s support to seal the deal and give these students the chance to explore unending possibilities.”
