Special to The Truth
The Senior Expo, held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, was a true celebration of faith and community.
With the theme A Legacy of Faith, A Celebration Across Generations from Psalms 71:18, the event brought together seniors and youth, including members of Ladies of Distinction, who graciously assisted those with mobility challenges.
Attendees enjoyed valuable resources from 15 vendors, covering financial management, property protection through the Lucas County Recorder’s Office Alert program, and legal guidance from Legal Shield. Health services were available such as blood pressure checks, immunizations provided by Junction Pharmacy, and A1C screenings from Mercy Health helped support senior well-being.
Delicious food, exciting activities and prizes added to the lively atmosphere, with the highlight being the Family Feud showdown, where Old School triumphed over New School, courtesy of NEON Entertainment LLC.
The event truly blessed the more than 100 participants, fostering a spirit of joy and connection. The Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church is pastored by Reverend William C. Foster.
The Senior Expo Committee would like to thank the volunteers, Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church’s Kitchen Committee, the participating vendors (the Area Office on Aging, Fifth Third Bank, Health Partners of Western Ohio, House of Day Mortuary, Huntington Bank, Junction Pharmacy, Legal Shield, Lucas Metropolitan Housing, Lucas County Recorder’s Office, Mercy Health, Neighborhood Health Association, Pathway, the Sight Center, State Bank), and everyone involved who made this event a success!
