Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Holds Annual Senior Recognition Program

The members of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, In, Toledo Alumnae Chapter held its annual Senior Recognition Program on Thursday, May 4, at Bowsher High School and honored 38 graduating high school seniors from across the area.

This year’s Recognition Committee include: Tiffany C. Bailey; Roxanne Allen; NaTasha Baker; Shannon Tisdale Carter; Tia Daniels and Kaylene Miller. Ambershaun Byrd is president of the Toledo Alumnae Chapter.

The event opened with a welcome by Recognition Committee member Bailey to the graduates.

After dinner was served, the attendees were treated to an address by guest speaker Brooklynn Gregory, Brooklynne is a 2020 graduate of St. Ursula Academy where she first learned the importance of leadership and established The African American club to create a safe space for black students at SUA.

Gregory graduated this spring from The University of Toledo with her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. During her time at the University of Toledo, she served as president and vice president of the NAACP collegiate chapter. She helped organize meetings with the President of UT and the community to ensure that the citizens and students alike were able to express their opinions about upcoming changes to the University because of new legislation. Brooklynne is a spring 24 initiate of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in the Beta Lambda Chapter.  Her collegiate journey was marked by campus involvement, meaningful work experiences, and cherished time with family.
She has recently accepted a role with ProMedica Health System, where she looks forward to gaining valuable experience in the healthcare field before she continues on to medical school.

Senior recognition and awards were presented by Bailey and Daniels; a raffle was conducted by Miller and Allen and closing remarks were offered by Bailey.
