June Boyd and Guests Celebrate Her 90th By Paul Hubbard, Bd Chair of Maritime Academy

June Boyd celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends at a fun birthday party with an excellent full course chicken dinner at the D.A.M. banquet hall at 4017 Lagrange Ave. It’s a very nice banquet hall with a lot of space and great parking.

The party was very elegant (June’s style) decorated by the owner Denice Overton. There were close to 150 guests in attendance including Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur; Judge Tim Kuhlman; Marie Bush, PhD; Roberto Torres; Anita Lopez; Harold Harris; Behrooz and Susan Modarai. June’s cousin Dr Judith Richmond, a surgeon (former Toledo residents) came from Portland Oregon.

June also had God Children from St Louis, Mo in attendance. June acknowledged her guests and expressed that they are the reason she is still on earth. She went on to say the love from family and friends is always a path to a long life of happiness.

June was presented a community service award by state Rep. Elgin Rogers The guest were entertained by June’s brother, Gary Bond, a poet. Her great grandchildren held a dance contest that ended in a tie. The music for the evening came from Simply Shann and the guest enjoyed dancing to the music.

June ended her remarks for the evening saying God and green tea are part of the reasons for her long life At 90 years old June is still very healthy. She writes articles for Sojourner Truth newspaper. She also works for Pathstone Corp. a Senior Community Service Employment Program.
