A new bar and restaurant opened last Monday in downtown Toledo in a grand old building at 413 Madison Street. The Toast and Tap Restaurant & Lounge staff and city officials held a ribbon cutting and introduced guests to imaginative cocktails and menu dotted with a spectacular array of tasty food choices.

Kanardo Whittington and Aundray Gray are the owners of the new downtown establishment and the chef is Jacqueline Smith, recently of 1 Jacques Catered Creations in Columbus, OH.

“I went all the way to Columbus to get her here,” said Gray of the chef who has assembled a menu with standout items such as salmon plank & veggies, shrimp po’boy sandwich and lamb chops on a everyday basis and loaded seafood and grits, for example, during Saturday brunches.

Live entertainment is also part of the fare as jazz and blues groups will hold forth on weekend nights.

Toast and Tap will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight.
