State Reps. Michele Grim (D-Toledo) and Elgin Rogers (D-Toledo)last week announced that The Ohio Department of Development is awarding $67.3M in funding for the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program. The funding is intended to tear down 1,277 blighted structures in Butler, Clinton, Cuyahoga, Hamilton, Logan, Lucas, Muskingum, Preble, and Richland counties.
“I am proud to announce that Lucas County received over $9 million for redevelopment opportunities and projects across the region. These funds will help support the continued revitalization of the greater Toledo community,” said Rep. Grim.
“Through this transformative award, Lucas County has received over $9M. This investment is a great opportunity to turn forgotten properties into valuable community assets. I will continue to fight to build a strong local economy, these revitalized structures are another step in doing so,” said Rep. Rogers.
The Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program is funded by the Ohio General Assembly as part of the current operating budget, which Reps. Grim and Rogers supported.
The program was created in 2021 and was intended to help communities demolish dilapidated commercial and residential buildings and revitalize surrounding properties to attract investments, businesses, and jobs.
