“I am all about putting back into the community,” said Alexicia Sims, owner of Village Academy, a daycare center. On Saturday, August 13, at Sims’ group, Blackledo, held a pop-up event at the Vibe Lounge on Reynolds Road.
Sims brought 32 businesses to the event and it was fortunate for all involved that when she sensed rain coming along at the start of the day, she was able to get everyone and everything inside to set up shop. “As an investor in the city of Toledo, I enjoy giving back … sharing information,” she said.
The noon to 8 p.m. business display offered visitors the opportunity to see and purchase a wide range of products, from clothing, to scents; jewelry, sunglasses, candles and beauty products, among the wide range of offerings.
The vendors expressed their pleasure to Sims at the end of the event about the attendance, however, Sims is waiting for more information from them – from the surveys that will tell whether or not the event was profitable for them. “I need for you to make money,” she tells the participants.
Her next event will be a food entrepreneur seminar at Mott Branch Library on September 9.
