The former Garden Lake Boulevard, which leads into the senior center at the Area Office on Aging, was renamed Billie Johnson Way for the woman who retired this summer after serving for 46 years as CEO of the agency.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of family members, friends, elected officials, agency staff and board members and community leaders joined the mayor and Johnson for the event, the only city street to be named after a woman.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9677\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9677\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9677\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.thetruthtoledo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Billie-Johnson-speaking.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.thetruthtoledo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Billie-Johnson-speaking.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/wordpress.thetruthtoledo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Billie-Johnson-speaking-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/wordpress.thetruthtoledo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Billie-Johnson-speaking-188x250.jpeg 188w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9677\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Billie Johnson speaking<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Johnson\u2019s recent retirement has led to numerous acknowledgements and honors this year for the Area Office on Aging leader who began her tenure in an office of four employees.
