The congregation of Poer House Tabernacle gathered for a 50th<\/sup> Anniversary Banquet on Sunday, August 16, to honor the past, to celebrate the present and to believe for the future. The special event was also an occasion to honor the legacy of Bishop William Nelson Clark.<\/p>\n

Power House Tabernacle began in July 1976 when then-Pastor Clark was inspired by the Lord to find a place to worship. After a call to Elder James Sherman, Pastor Clark began having prayer in the building on Moorish Avenue. Services began in September of that year.<\/p>\n

Bishop Clark\u2019s ministry began in 1963 when he preached his first sermon at the age of 14 in the Mt. Calvary FBH Church in Cincinnati. He later attended the Cincinnati Baptist Bible College & Seminary, then the Temple Bible & Seminary receiving his Bachelors of Arts degree in 1972. He came to Toledo the next year and became pastor of the Mt. Pleasant FBH Church and in 1976 founded Power House Tabernacle. He has led the congregation to their present location at 1228 Campbell.<\/p>\n

The Sunday celebration banquet with Invocation and Blessing of the Meal by Pastor Stella Johnson, followed by a Scripture Reading of Psalm127:1, then a welcome by Min. Sharon Waters.<\/p>\n

After moments of reflection and dinner, the head table guests offered their reflections, the clergy offered their reflections, then the family followed suit.<\/p>\n

On open mic was offered to any attendee; a musical tribute was followed by the church history presented by Min. Shirley Duncan.<\/p>\n

The evening\u2019s keynote speaker was Joseph A. Cody, PhD of the Kingom Builders Worldwide Network of Charlotte, NC<\/p>\n

Pastor Stella Johnson offered pastoral reflections followed by the reflections and benediction from the Presiding Bishop of Pentecostal Christian Churches, Bishop Stephen Gulley.<\/p>\n
