The free event takes place Friday, May 8, from 1\u20133 p.m. at Main Library in downtown Toledo, and is cosponsored by TRIO Educational Opportunity Center and TARTA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy working with Cherry Street Mission, TRIO and TARTA, the Toledo Library brings together employers, workforce partners and community organizations to create real opportunities for people ready to reenter the workforce,\u201d said Toledo Library Executive Director Jason Kucsma. \u201cThe Second Chance Job Fair connects individuals with the tools, resources and support they need to take the next step toward stable, meaningful employment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A second chance job fair is a hiring event designed to connect people who face barriers to employment, such as past incarceration, gaps in work history or other challenges, with employers who are open to giving them an opportunity to work and rebuild their careers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccess to stable employment is one of the most important steps in helping individuals rebuild their lives,\u201d said Carrie Arnold, vice president of workforce development at Cherry Street Mission. \u201cPartnering with the Toledo Library, TRIO and TARTA on this event creates a welcoming space where people can connect with employers, find support and move forward with confidence toward long-term stability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting to work shouldn\u2019t be the hardest part of getting a job,\u201d said Rick Bailey, deputy chief executive officer at TARTA. \u201cThrough this partnership, TARTA helps connect individuals with employment opportunities and the reliable transportation they need to build consistent, successful careers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some employers may offer on-the-spot interviews, and community organizations will provide additional support services and resources. Attendees are encouraged to bring resumes and be prepared to speak with employers.
