Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. Toledo Chapter held their annual Prayer Breakfast at The Premier Saturday, January 31. The theme this year was \u201cWe\u2019re Still Standing\u2026\u201d (Psalms 40:1-2) and featured guest speaker Tiara Armstrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is our annual prayer breakfast that we use to promote our fundraiser,\u201d said Prayer Breakfast Co-Chair and TLOD Toledo Chapter \u00a02nd<\/sup> Vice President Denise Black-Poon. \u00a0\u201cIt’s going towards scholarship and community service. We have our Top Teens that are involved with the coat check and as well as a bake sale. Also, we have the NAACP, who will be here and some of more partnerships that our national focus is on including sickle cell for health and an author for literacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are actually trying to promote love and unity throughout the community and this is a great way to show our love toward each other through a prayer breakfast,\u201d she continued. \u00a0\u201cAnd also to focus on the different things that are happening in the world. We want unity and respect and happiness amongst each other. So this is a great way to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The program began with welcomes from Wanda Terrell Galloway, TLOD Toledo Chapter president and Prayer Breakfast co-chair; Jarrell Terrell, Teen TTA President and Velda Hunter, National Area V Director.<\/p>\n

Delvata Moses provided the Inspiration and Mary McKinley-Reed offered remarks about TLOD Programs and Projects.<\/p>\n

The program featured several local organizations and individuals that represented the focus of the national TLOD organization:\u00a0 La’Shardae Scott & Sickle Cell Warriors with Emory Scott; Darlene Sweeney Newbern, president- NAACP and Imelda Hunt, author. Angie Cassidy provided remarks about Community Partnership.<\/p>\n

Following a selection by Deborah Gardner (soloist) accompanied by Mike Odoms (pianist) Clara Brank, Chaplain of the TLOD Toledo Chapter lead prayer and breakfast was served.<\/p>\n

DeLise Simmons introduced the speaker for the morning Tiara Armstrong–leader, Confidence Coach, and ordained minister. Armstrong serves women, leaders, and entrepreneurs across the U.S., helping them break free from fear, silence, and limitation so they can walk in bold obedience and authentic authority. \u00a0Among her many accomplishments, she is the founder of \u00a0Hearts 2 Hearts (H2H), a nonprofit mentoring organization for girls ages 8-18 and partners with the University of Toledo on the “PUSHOUT” initiative, which confronts the systemic disparities impacting Black girls.<\/p>\n

After the Blessing of Prayer Cards, Awards and Recognition, Wanda Terrell Galloway President gave the Closing Remarks for a wonderful celebration.<\/p>\n

Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. (TLOD), is a 501(c)3 organization, under the leadership of the\u00a0National President and CEO, Lady Eddie Lee Marsh. TLOD declares that the purpose of the\u00a0organization shall be to advance the standards, ideals, and general welfare of the community\u00a0through service by encouraging, promoting, and extending activities that will be conducive to\u00a0the betterment and ultimate welfare of people.<\/p>\n

Top Ladies of Distinction have over 125 Chapters across the United States and currently with a\u00a0membership of over 7,500 and approximately 3,500 Teens.
