As a result of TPS not receiving its December 1\u00a0federal award notification, operations will be suspended starting on December 1.<\/p>\n<p>This service hiatus will affect more than 1,000 students enrolled in TPS-sponsored programs, as well as 124 employees.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-K classes funded through the federal Title I program are not affected.<\/p>\n<p>The success of Head Start and Early Childhood Education, both locally and nationally, is well documented. These programs are among America&#8217;s most effective investments, with long-term benefits and documented measures of success.<\/p>\n<p>Students make significant progress in language, literacy, and math by the end of the program year, demonstrating improved academic, social-emotional, and school readiness outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Studies also show positive impacts on social-emotional functioning, including better self-control and reduced problem behaviors, that can persist into later grades and even adulthood.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Special to The Truth Toledo Public Schools is being forced to pause a majority of its successful Head Start and Early Childhood Education programs due to the\u00a0prolonged\u00a0government shutdown.
