Assets Toledo held a Q&A session with speaker LaVera Scott, director of Lucas County Board of Elections and Anita Madison, coordinator of the Ohio Unity Coalition \u00a0on Friday, August 30. The event entitled \u201cPower of the Ballot\u201d informed attendees about voter registration, changes to voting identification requirements as well as job opportunities for the upcoming election.<\/p>\n

\u201cDemocracy is being challenged. There is a complete attack on Democracy across the United States,\u201d stated Scott.<\/p>\n

Scott highlighted the changes to voting requirements in Ohio and the importance of electing officials that protect the interests of all voters. \u201cOur vote becomes our voice, we need to vote for people who support what we stand for. Vote for people who will stand up and say [this] is wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cVoting is definitely power,\u201d she continued, \u201cand the power that we hold within our hands I think a lot of us don\u2019t recognize how much that is.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people who are creating these standards and laws are people that we elect,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
