The Black Wall Street Community Development held its fourth coaching session at TTEC (5212 Hill Ave.) featuring Olivia Holden, executive director of Assets Toledo. The interactive presentation provided exclusive tips on business planning for entrepreneurs.\u00a0 The event is part of a free six-session series of training leading up to BWSCD\u2019s upcoming Juneteenth Speed Funding event June 13.<\/p>\n

The Black Wall Street Community Development is an organization established by local Black-owned media \u2013 The Juice 107.3 radio station, The Sojourner\u2019s Truth newspaper and Stalwart magazine. Started in 2023, the group has hosted a wealth of events and sessions to help empower the Black business community in NW Ohio.<\/p>\n

During April and May, the group is hosting a six-part series of events for Black entrepreneurs on topics pertinent to success and viability in today\u2019s market. The sessions include such topics as \u201cScaling Your Biz,\u201d \u201cBrand Strategy\u201d and \u201cFinancial Snapshot.\u201d<\/p>\n

The final upcoming session will be a marketing coaching session entitled \u201cThe Must of Marketing\u201d and will be held at TTEC Wednesday, May 29 at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

This past week\u2019s session featured Holden. Assets Toledo offers a 13-week entrepreneurial training program that is offered three times a year. Holden states that since its inception in 1999 the organization has serviced over 4900 individuals that have gone through the program. Holden has been with Assets Toledo for over 20 years.<\/p>\n

Assets Toledo\u2019s services include a comprehensive consultation and training to help identify gaps and opportunities, comprehensive report that includes a project plan with timelines and milestones, a cost analysis, and a schedule and more. (source: assetstoledo.com)<\/p>\n

Holden provided attendees Wednesday with a sample business plan, resources, strategies, and tips to create and maintain a successful business plan through the life of their business. Guests also had an opportunity to network with likeminded entrepreneurs in the room.<\/p>\n

June 13th the BWSCD will be hosting an epic speed funding event held at TTEC for Juneteenth at 6 p.m., in partnership with Toledo JuneteenthNY, to help entrepreneurs catapult themselves into the next level of their business.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have traditional and nontraditional funders. We [also] have a lot of individuals actually who are looking to invest in small firms who will also be here,\u201d stated Stacye Fowler, publisher of Stalwart Magazine.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate everybody\u2019s desire to want to do better in their businesses and that\u2019s why we\u2019re here as Black Wallstreet just to help them out. To help them get there,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The Black Wall Street Community Development\u2019s mission statement \u201cis to empower a community of business owners through activities such as mentorship, networking, leadership coaching and financial literacy initiatives for advocacy, support\u201d.<\/p>\n
