On March 25, the Xi Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated hosted its\u00a0Second Annual \u201cStrike Out With The Ques\u201d Bowl-A-Thon event, with a portion of the proceeds going to\u00a0uplift Rosa Parks Elementary School. The event, held at Timbers Bowling Lanes, was attended by over\u00a0100 participants who bowled and raised funds for the cause.<\/p>\n

Toledo Public Schools\u2019 mission is to produce competitive college and career ready graduates through a\u00a0rigorous curriculum across all grade levels by implementing Ohio\u2019s New Learning Standards with fidelity.<\/p>\n

The funds donated from the Bowl-A-Thon event will go directly to supporting Rosa Parks\u2019 ongoing\u00a0programs and initiatives to meet this mission.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled with the success of our Bowl-A-Thon event,\u201d said Chris McClendon who served as Chair\u00a0of the event. \u201cWe could not have achieved this without the support of our generous sponsors and\u00a0participants who contributed to the event\u2019s success. The funds raised will make a meaningful impact on\u00a0Rosa Parks\u2019 efforts to serve our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"The Bowl-A-Thon event was made possible through the support of numerous sponsors, including Toledo\u00a0Urban FCU, A Better Life 2 Embrace, Melanie Johnson with Key Realty, University of Toledo Division of\u00a0Student Affairs, Premier Bank, Center of Hope Family Services, ARK Restoration and Construction, SSOE,\u00a0DJ Chris Hollywood, The ONYX Caf\u00e9, The Alpha Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity,\u00a0Incorporated, Hobbs For Council D1, Milton Carswell, Jr. Golf, The Toledo Chapter of The Girlfriends, Inc,\u00a0Janice Carson-Hearn, and The Greeno Family.<\/p>\n

The Bowl-A-Thon event not only raised funds for a worthy cause, but it was also an opportunity for\u00a0members of the community to come together and have fun while supporting a good cause. Participants\u00a0enjoyed an afternoon of glow bowling, food, music, and prizes, all while knowing that their contributions\u00a0were making a difference in the community.<\/p>\n

The Xi Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated would like to thank everyone who\u00a0participated, sponsored, or supported the event in any way. The success of the Bowl-A-Thon event is a\u00a0testament to the power of community and the generosity of individuals who want to make a difference.<\/p>\n

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is the first international fraternal organization founded on the campus of a\u00a0historically black college.<\/p>\n

On the evening of November 17, 1911, Omega Psi Phi was founded inside the Science Building (later\u00a0renamed Thirkield Hall) at Howard University located in Washington, D.C. The founders were three\u00a0undergraduates \u2014 Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper and Frank Coleman. Joining them was their\u00a0faculty adviser,\u00a0Ernest Everett Just.<\/p>\n

From the initials of the Greek phrase meaning, \u201cfriendship is essential to the soul,\u201d the name Omega Psi\u00a0Phi was derived. That phrase was selected as the motto.<\/p>\n

Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift\u00a0were adopted as Cardinal Principles.<\/p>\n
