Tatum came to the Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union on Wednesday, September 30, to sit down with Toledo Municipal Court Judge Nicole Khoury to see if she could rid herself of those concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Judge<strong> Khoury<\/strong> has made driver&#8217;s license restoration one of her signature missions. Through her courtroom and a growing partnership with <strong>Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union <\/strong>(TUFCU), she is helping people untangle legal obstacles that have kept them stuck for years, opening doors to employment, stability and a fresh start.<\/p>\n<p>The clinics held at Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union are intentionally designed to meet people where they are. Instead of asking residents to walk into a courthouse they may fear, Khoury brings the court into a familiar community setting alongside her public defender and the court&#8217;s license intervention specialist.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want people to have a space where they feel safe to come in and walk in through doors,&#8221; she says.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Khoury and her staff hold driver\u2019s license restoration clinics about once a month at Toledo Urban.<\/p>\n<p>Participants leave with honest answers and a clearer understanding of what comes next. While the court can&#8217;t make every legal issue disappear, Khoury and her team help where possible, work through court fines and payment plans, and map out the next steps toward getting a license back.<\/p>\n<p>Tatum lost her license because of an automobile accident eight months ago and the ensuing insurance issues. She is a pharmacist tech at the University of Toledo Medical Center, so she has had a challenge getting to work in recent months.
