Additional grocery staples may be added based on customer demand.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Swayne Field Pop-Up Produce Market will give residents in a food desert greater access to affordable, nutritious food in a welcoming setting close to home,&#8221; Rosalyn Clemens, chief of housing and neighborhood sustainability, said. &#8220;This is the revitalization work we want to be doing in our NRSA neighborhoods, ensuring residents have access to the resources they need to be healthy and well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The pilot program is part of a broader effort to increase access to affordable, nutritious food, support local and regional growers, strengthen neighborhood connections and activate the Swayne Field redevelopment site.<\/p>\n<p>Al Peake &amp; Sons, a Toledo-based food distributor with more than 75 years of experience, will oversee market operations, including produce sourcing, transportation, staffing and food safety.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The goal is to make fresh food more accessible while creating a welcoming space for residents to gather and shop close to home,&#8221; Philip Peake, president of AL Peake &amp; Sons Food Service, said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Toledo and Al Peake &amp; Sons Food Service are partnering to launch the Swayne Field Pop-Up Produce Market, a pilot program designed to increase access to affordable, nutritious food for residents at the Swayne Field redevelopment site.
