I have a great deal of respect for Harold Harris. He\u2019s a good man who truly cares about Toledo, and I was proud to support him in the primary. He ran a strong, thoughtful campaign and brought important issues to the forefront. But the reality is, he didn\u2019t win. That\u2019s how elections work.<\/p>\n
Now, Harold has launched a write-in campaign for mayor. While I believe his intentions are sincere, the unfortunate consequence is that his candidacy risks splitting the vote \u2014 ultimately helping to secure a third term for Mayor Wade, the very outcome Harold has publicly opposed since the term-limit issue hit the ballot last fall.<\/p>\n
This is not the time for division. Harold\u2019s continued advocacy won\u2019t put him in the mayor\u2019s office, but it could very well ensure Wade stays there. The better path forward is unity. Harold should stand with Roberto Torres \u2014 the only viable candidate positioned to bring about real change for Toledo \u2014 and help lead a broad coalition that puts the city first.<\/p>\n
Toledo deserves a fresh start. Let\u2019s not let this moment slip away.<\/p>\n
